Pagan Jewelry Guide
If you hear the word pagan and instantly thing evil or witchcraft you
couldn't be further from the truth. Pagan Jewelry as deep in culture
and past as Celtic jewelry.
Paganism or Wicca is a set of beliefs and practices just as any other religions
is. With those beliefs come symbols, patterns, and designs. Many
of these symbols have been turned into beautiful jewelry. And
like Celtic jewelry, it is worn by all so pagan jewelry is also
worn by those who have no direct ties to the practices.
Pagan jewelry has a magical mysterious aura around it. It's the same
aura that surrounds practicing Wiccans' when people don't fully
understand their beliefs. The pagan jewelry is certainly worth adding
to your jewelry. Not only is it beautiful it is a great conversation
starter. Here are some of the more common symbols found on
jewelry.
The witches knot is also called the magic knot or the witch's
charm. It is a symbol of protection against malevolent witchcraft and
it is used to bind things magically.
The Faery Star is also called the septagram and it is sometimes
used instead of the Pentagram. The seven points represent the sun,
the forest, the sea, magick, the moon, the wind, and the spirit.
The star of inner balance represents the miracle of life dependant
upon the sacred union of the male and female spirit. The balance of
these forces within us is essential to our survival. It is believed to
balance the mind, body, and spirit.
The talisman for invisibility will render the wearer invisible if and
only if his or her faith is sufficient. This talisman increases talents and
the knowledge of profound arts.
Wheel of the year pendant depicts the eight Pagan holidays or
Sabbaths. Each pie shaped section is carved with the representation
of a particular holiday.
The pentagram or pentacle is the one that most people have
heard about at some time. It is often viewed with suspicion. Many
Christian religions believe it to be a symbol of evil or of devil worship.
This is entirely false. All you need to do is ask a Wiccan. Rather the
pentacle is the sacred Wiccan that represents each of the elements -
Earth, air, fire, and water. The top of each star point stands for the
fifth element which is spirit. The circle around the star represents the
endless circle of life.
The rune of duration is also called Isa. To the ancients, Isa
represented the present moment in time and it held the power to slow
down surrounding energies, thus creating an aura of stability,
calmness and concentration.
The rune of victory is also called Tir and it was used to bring
success and justice to all material levels by helping develop courage
and strength.
The rune of protection was both shield and spear bringing woe to
those who cause affliction to the holder. It also banished impure
energy and protected the wearer.
The talisman for wisdom is said to assist the wearer in gaining
knowledge and understanding of all things.
This is a very short list of the type of pagan jewelry that is
available. Pagan jewelry is beautiful, unique, and mysterious with a
magical quality that is hard to resist. So whether you are a practicing
Wiccan or not given the chance do check out what the jewelry has to
offer!
